Glow Pub Is the first nightclub for teenagers only in Lebanon. It Recently opened In Poren El Chabak and admits only children aged 12 to 18. It is clear that smoking and alcohol are prohibited in the club and to make parents feel even more comfortable, there are 30 surveillance cameras to monitor the children at all times. In addition, the children will be escorted from the car to the entrance. Zohar will open on weekends and holidays from 16:00 until midnight. The entrance fee is 30,000 LL.
Now the question is will it work?
Youth clubs are a nice new idea in Lebanon, but there are some issues to consider:
– You deal with children and that is a big responsibility. You will need trained and experienced staff and security staff, not just random ushers.
– You will never be able to follow 300 teens dancing and jumping in a nightclub, no matter how many surveillance cameras you have.
– Zohar may be run by responsible people but what does the law say about opening such nightclubs? Who will arrange the opening of other youth clubs?
– What happens if drugs or alcohol are smuggled in? How will the owners deal with this? To whom will it be reported?
