Even in Las Vegas Desert bars in the desert provide the best of all worlds with fresh air, inspiring views, cold drinks and hopefully some services to make it worth the climb. So here’s a great idea: despite the constant triple-digit temperatures, these rooftops are actually the coolest places to be this summer.
Opened in July, the 910-square-foot rooftop bar and patio above Chef Kerry Simon’s Carson Kitchen are set to become a favorite place to hang out after work. It has all the boxes marked: stylish seating and stools for a shaded table; A rich bar serving unique cocktails, beer and American wine in small portions; and the full menu (hello, crispy chicken skins) from Simon’s Rock’n’Roll Chef’s new restaurant downstairs. Open daily from 11am to 11pm, but the best bet is to grab a spot under the strings of the festival lights – is it Austin? Portland? Brooklyn? – early Friday or Saturday night, when the nightlife scene in the city center peaks.
At the intersection of the old and the new strip, the new and numbered rooftop bar of the Inspire Theater building offers some of the best viewing people there are in the city center. The rooftop comes to life at 10pm in the summer (earlier in the fall and winter), offering views of Las Vegas Avenue, the Fremont Street experience and the bars and restaurants of the Fremont East entertainment district. The 2,670-square-foot hip joint has a relaxed feel, and includes plenty of lounge furniture as well as a shaded bar that specializes in shared seating and appropriate drinks: artistic beer and international beer for the entire table, and bottle service. For high-quality high balls. Thursday to Saturday.
Seasoned to perfection in a hot summer since 2012, the vibrant Commonwealth lid brings the most experience to this season with aggressive mists, an indoor bar, sofas and a nearly 360-degree view of the city center, Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 9 p.m. In the rest of the Commonwealth, this comfortable 2,142-square-foot rooftop is equipped with exposed brick, dark wood and eclectic furniture, as well as bar games, cool artwork and enough space for you and 124 of your new friends. The full bar still serves the same unique pre-banish cocktails (such as vodka, lime, syrup and soda-ala gonor packed) and special breweries like downstairs so you can relax during the meal. Week and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of Fremont East. But on weekends, the DJ presents it to an energetic dance party that can be seen on blocks.
